In October 2019, Sam was one of two artists, the other being Bettina Fung, selected to take part in the 2019 edition of Howl Yuan’s UK-Taiwan artist exchange programme Artists Home Swap, where he stayed at Acid House in Taipei, Taiwan for a one month art residency.

During this time, Sam brought his acclaimed (T)werkshops back home to Asia at Little Theatre School in Taipei, which culminated in a showcase at Acid House. Both he and Bettina then lead workshops and performed at The Pier 2 Arts Center on the other side of the country in Kaohsiung. And having also become connected with members of Taipei’s queer performance community, Sam proudly attended Taipei Pride 2019, the first since Taiwan became the first Asian nation to legalise same-sex marriage earlier in the year.
